Every “best prop firm” list I’ve seen is an affiliate ranking disguised as honest advice. Whoever pays the highest commission gets the #1 spot. I’m going to rank these differently: by which firms I’d actually use with my own money, based on payout reliability, rule fairness, trader feedback, and overall value.
This list focuses on futures prop firms. If you’re looking for forex, this isn’t the article.
How I ranked these
Four factors, weighted by what actually matters to traders:
- Payout reliability (40%): Do they actually pay? How fast? How many complaints?
- Rule fairness (25%): Are the rules transparent and reasonable? Do they change retroactively?
- Value (20%): Total cost vs total earning potential
- Track record (15%): How long have they been around? Have they survived industry shakeouts?
1. MyFundedFutures
Why #1: Highest Trustpilot rating in the industry (4.9, 17,000+ reviews), daily payouts on Rapid plan, 90/10 profit split, no daily loss limit, no time limit on evaluations. Customer support responds in minutes.
Best plan: Rapid — daily payouts, 90/10 split, no consistency rule in funded stage. The intraday trailing drawdown is aggressive, but if you can handle it, the payout terms are the best available.
The catch: Intraday trailing drawdown on Rapid is punishing. Anonymous founders raise transparency questions. Only 1% of funded traders reach live accounts. Frequent plan restructuring can be confusing.
Best for: Scalpers and disciplined day traders who want fast access to profits.
Cost: $87-$347 one-time (Rapid), $77/month (Core). No activation fees.
2. TradeDay
Why #2: Daily payouts with 24-hour processing. Profit split scales from 80% to 95% based on lifetime withdrawals. Crypto payout option (free on Layer 2). Fewest complaints of any major firm I’ve reviewed.
Best feature: The scaling split. Start at 80%, hit $50K in lifetime withdrawals and you’re at 90%, over $100K and you’re at 95%. No other firm offers 95%. For long-term traders, this adds up significantly.
The catch: The Active Trading Day requirement (each qualifying day needs $200+ profit AND 23% of your best day) is confusing and can trip people up. Starting at 80% is below average until you build volume.
Best for: Traders who plan to stick with one firm long-term and want the best possible split over time.
Cost: Comparable to competitors. Evaluation + activation fees.
3. Take Profit Trader
Why #3: No consistency rule. Unlimited payout frequency. Day-one withdrawals on profits above buffer. The fewest restrictions on when and how you can take money out.
Best feature: The lack of restrictions. No waiting periods between payouts. No consistency percentage to hit. No maximum payout count. If you’re profitable, you can withdraw immediately and as often as you want.
The catch: PRO accounts start at 80/20 split. Getting to PRO+ (90/10) requires locking $5,000 in trading capital. The 50-transaction daily limit isn’t well disclosed and will frustrate scalpers. Some double billing complaints.
Best for: Traders who hate restrictions and want maximum flexibility in their payout schedule.
Cost: Monthly subscription + $130 one-time activation for PRO.
4. Apex Trader Funding
Why #4: Cheapest entry point in the industry with perpetual 80-90% off codes ($13-$40 per evaluation). Up to 20 simultaneous Performance Accounts. $700M+ in total payouts distributed. The 4.0 update in March 2026 fixed several major pain points.
Best feature: Scale. Twenty accounts at $13 each is $260 invested for access to potentially $100K+ in combined funded capital. No other firm comes close on volume.
The catch: 6-payout cap per account forces cycling. Contract reduction from eval to PA changes how you can trade. Controversy history including the founder recording, profitable trader bans, and pre-4.0 payout denials. Gold/metals trading suspended.
Best for: Traders who want to run multiple accounts simultaneously for portfolio-style income.
Cost: $13-$40 per eval (with discounts) + $79-$99 activation + $85/month data feed.
5. Bulenox
Why #5: First $10,000 at 100% profit split, then 90/10. Weekly payouts (Wednesdays). After the third payout, withdrawal caps are completely removed. One-time activation fee with no monthly charges.
Best feature: Uncapped payouts after payout #3. While Apex maxes out at $14,500 on a 50K account, Bulenox has no ceiling once you’re past the initial payouts. Long-term earning potential is higher.
The catch: 40% consistency rule (stricter than Apex’s 50%). $1,000 minimum withdrawal is the highest in the industry. 10 trading day minimum before first payout. Some Reddit reports of payouts denied using vague “flipping” violations.
Best for: Patient traders who want uncapped long-term extraction potential and don’t mind a slower start.
Cost: Evaluation fee + $143-$898 one-time activation (varies by account size). No monthly fees.
6. Topstep
Why #6: The original prop firm (since 2012). EOD trailing drawdown on all accounts — the most forgiving drawdown type. CFTC registered through Topstep Brokerage. Path to actual live funded trading exists (though only 0.71% get there).
Best feature: EOD drawdown. Period. If you trade a strategy that holds through pullbacks, Topstep’s drawdown mechanics won’t punish you for intraday swings. No other major firm offers EOD across all account types.
The catch: Trustpilot dropped from 4.5 to 3.4 in one year. 101 BBB complaints, 75 in the last 12 months. Platform outages in late 2025/early 2026 destroyed funded accounts with inadequate compensation. Pattern of accounts closing near payout time. Locked into TopstepX platform only.
Best for: Traders who need EOD drawdown and value Topstep’s regulatory registration over newer firms.
Cost: $49-$149/month + $149 activation. Monthly costs add up if you don’t pass quickly.
7. Alpha Futures
Why #7: Advanced account offers 90% split from day one with no consistency rule. Standard account scaling from 70% to 90% rewards loyalty. Relatively new but clean track record so far.
Best feature: The Advanced account’s combination of 90% split and no consistency rule. You get a clean payout structure without the hoops other firms make you jump through.
The catch: Standard account starts at 70% — the lowest opening split in the industry. Newer firm with a shorter track record. $15,000 per payout cap on all account types.
Best for: Traders willing to pay more upfront for the Advanced account to avoid consistency rules.
8. TickTick Trader
Why #8: 100% profit split for the first three months, then 90/10. Straight-to-funded option available. Generally fast payout processing.
Best feature: Three months of keeping everything you earn. If you can extract significant profits in that window, the value is hard to beat.
The catch: 30% consistency rule — the strictest in the entire industry. One big day means you need to generate more than double that amount across other days before you can withdraw. This single rule makes TickTick harder to withdraw from than any other firm despite the generous split.
Best for: Ultra-consistent traders who never have outsized winning days. If your daily P&L varies a lot, avoid this firm.
What I’d actually do
If I were starting from scratch today with $500 to invest in prop firm evaluations, here’s my setup:
- 3-5 Apex evaluations on 50K accounts with 90% off codes: $39-$65
- 1 MFF Rapid 50K evaluation: $157
- 1 TradeDay evaluation: ~$150
- Remaining for data feed and activation fees
The Apex accounts provide volume and cheap entry. The MFF account provides daily payouts if I pass. The TradeDay account provides a path to 95% split long-term. Diversified across three firms, so if one has issues, the others keep producing.
That’s not financial advice. It’s what I’d do. Your situation, risk tolerance, and trading style should drive your decision. But spreading across firms is the closest thing to risk management that exists in prop trading.
