NinjaTrader has 1.9 million users, which makes it the most popular futures trading platform by a wide margin. If you’ve spent months or years mastering NinjaTrader’s tools, indicators, and order entry, switching platforms for a prop firm evaluation is not ideal.
Good news: most major futures prop firms still support NinjaTrader. One notable exception. Here’s the complete list.
Firms with official NinjaTrader support
In October 2025, NinjaTrader launched “NinjaTrader Prop” — an official integration that connects prop firm accounts directly through the NT platform. Several firms partnered at launch.
Connection via Rithmic direct login. Apex provides a free NinjaTrader license key after signup. Well-documented integration with setup guides. Works on all Apex account types (evaluation and PA). This is probably the most commonly used NinjaTrader + prop firm combination in the industry.
2. MyFundedFutures
Direct NinjaTrader login via MFF dashboard. Officially recognized in the NinjaTrader Prop rollout. MFF also supports Tradovate, TradingView, and Quantower — so NinjaTrader is one of four platform options.
3. Alpha Futures
Connection via NinjaTrader Prop. NinjaTrader integration is fully supported.
4. FundedNext Futures
Connection via NinjaTrader Prop. Pass in 1 day, reward in 3 days, 100% profit split, no monthly or activation fees. Relatively newer but growing.
5. Elite Trader Funding
Full NinjaTrader 8 support via Rithmic. Provides a free license key for funded traders. Has specific NinjaTrader setup guides. Use code NINJA for 50% off.
6. Purdia Capital
Connection via NinjaTrader Prop. Daily payouts available.
7. Bulenox
NinjaTrader 8 via “Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage” connection. Free platform license for funded accounts. Comprehensive setup documentation.
8. TickTick Trader
Free NinjaTrader license included with accounts. Also provides free Jigsaw and Bookmap licenses — a unique perk. Connection via Rithmic/Project X Data Feed.
9. TradeDay
NinjaTrader listed as supported platform. Also supports Quantower, TradingView, Tradovate, Jigsaw Daytradr, and TradeDayX. Broker connection through Tradovate.
The big exception: Topstep
Topstep no longer supports NinjaTrader.
As of July 2025, all new Topstep accounts must use TopstepX — their proprietary platform. NinjaTrader, TradingView, Tradovate, and all third-party platforms were removed. ProjectX ended third-party support by February 28, 2026.
If you’re a NinjaTrader user and were considering Topstep, this is a hard stop. You cannot use NinjaTrader on Topstep. Period.
This was a controversial decision and contributed to Topstep’s Trustpilot rating declining from 4.5 to 3.4. Many long-time Topstep traders left specifically because they were locked out of NinjaTrader.
NinjaTrader platform details
NinjaTrader is available on:
- Windows desktop: Full-featured, most popular option
- Web platform: Browser-based, works on any OS
- Mobile: For monitoring and basic execution
No native Mac desktop application. Mac users must use the web platform or run Windows through virtualization (Parallels, Boot Camp). This is NinjaTrader’s biggest limitation for Mac users in prop trading.
The platform is free for market data and analysis. Live trading requires a license, but most prop firms provide free license keys to funded traders. During evaluations, some firms cover the license cost; others require you to use a demo/sim license.
Setup tips for NinjaTrader + prop firm accounts
Data feed connection: Most firms connect through Rithmic or Tradovate. You’ll receive login credentials from the prop firm, then enter them in NinjaTrader’s Connections settings. Rithmic is more common (Apex, Bulenox, TickTick, Elite Trader). Tradovate is used by TradeDay and others.
Multiple accounts: NinjaTrader handles multiple simultaneous connections well. You can have 5-10 prop firm accounts connected at once, each with separate Rithmic logins. This is how trade copier setups (CrossTrade, Replikanto) work — one NinjaTrader instance managing all your accounts.
Order entry: NinjaTrader’s chart trader and SuperDOM are among the fastest manual order entry systems available. If you’re a scalper, the ability to place orders directly from the chart or DOM with a single click matters for execution speed on prop firm accounts where every tick counts.
If NinjaTrader is your platform, you have 9 major prop firm options. The only firm you’re locked out of is Topstep. Given the breadth of alternatives — Apex, MFF, TradeDay, Bulenox, TickTick, TPT — losing Topstep as an option isn’t a meaningful limitation for most traders.
